L&R 2015-2016 Sustainability Report
"There is a long tradition of sustainable actions and corporate responsibility in the L&R Group. Based on our brand values and the three pillars of sustainability, we balance commercial success with our responsibility to the environment, our employees and society," said Wolfgang Süßle, CEO of the L&R Group.
"Although we are not obliged to document our commitment to sustainability, we would like to make transparent to our external and internal target groups and contacts the diverse projects that we systematically implement, in some cases over many years. The L&R Sustainability Report helps to document our commitment to economic, environmental and social sustainability using systematically recorded data," explained Wolfgang Süßle.
In nine countries and at 12 sites, the company manufactures medical devices for regional and international markets. During product and process development, environmentally friendly and energy saving considerations are systematically taken into account early on in the process. The environmental goals are defined and reviewed each year: They include reducing fuel consumption, increasing recycling, waste separation and implementing programmes for saving energy.
As a company in the healthcare sector, L&R must operate in accordance with particularly stringent standards and industry regulations. This refers on the one hand to safety aspects for users and patients and on the other hand to environmental aspects such as raw materials, sewage / water, ventilation / air conditioning, energy, environmentally relevant materials and waste / disposal.
Being Active Counts
"Of course L&R complies with all the legal requirements in those markets in which we operate. DIN ISO standards 14001 and 50001 are a high priority for the L&R Group and L&R also undergoes regular reviews as part of audits. The company was awarded the EcoVadis certificate in bronze in 2015, for example," according to Thomas Menitz, COO and the person responsible for environmental sustainability at L&R.
L&R operates on the basis of the internationally recognised and certified ISO 9001/13485 quality management system. The company works in accordance with defined standards with tested raw materials, purchased parts, components and services. The stringent requirements also apply to suppliers and distributors.
L&R is also committed in the long term to social sustainability. L&R employees are involved in the corporate social responsibility programme, "L&R charity - we connect", to support projects around the world that link different generations. L&R also collaborates with recognised and globally active aid organisations and regularly donates products for crisis regions.
