In vitro study looking at the binding capacity of Vliwasorb of inflammatory proteases. The reduction of inflammatory cells that was shown, applying Vliwasorb, is proposed to support wound healing in vivo.

Collagen dressings, inflammatory cytokines, free radicals
Summary
The in vitro study showed that collagen dressings have a high binding capacity for different inflammatory cytokines and they inhibit the formation of free radicals. Therefore these dressings are proposed to reduce chronic inflammation in stagnating wounds. Suprasorb C showed superior results, indicating that the bovine source of the dressing has benefits over other sources.
