Cellacare® Gilchrist Easy Classic: Now even easier for users to put on by themselves

L&R is expanding its portfolio of supports and orthoses

Press release valid for the countries Italy, Netherlands and Belgium.

In mid-March, L&R presented for the first time its new expanded portfolio of supports and orthoses in its “Cellacare Classic” line at the most important trade fair for health and rehabilitation specialists, orthopaedics technology and orthopaedic shoe technology. The new product will be available from May 2023 worldwide: the new shoulder-arm orthosis Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic immobilises the shoulder joint in internal rotation according to the principle of the post-operative surgery/treatment advice (Gilchrist concept). In addition to the proven features already seen in existing Cellacare Classic products, the Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic is designed to be used by the patient without external help. The broader range of sizes also opens up the products to a bigger group of users.

Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) is not only a well-known provider of solutions for wound care and compression, but has also been developing, manufacturing and distributing supports and orthoses for over 25 years under its Cellacare® brand. The Cellacare “Classic” line meets all of the treatment requirements for acute clinical pictures, particularly in an emergency-care setting, offering good value for money and reliable quality standards. Other shoulder/arm products in the Cellacare Classic line include the tried-and-tested Cellacare Gilchrist Classic and Cellacare Gilchrist Sling Classic, both used for immobilisation of the joints of the shoulder and arm in a defined position. The new product is replacing a preceding model - Cellacare Gilchrist Easy.

Easy to use and a broader range of sizes - Made in Europe

L&R’s international development, product management and marketing team have reported: “Thanks to our many years of experience and the work of our in-house product-development and production teams at the St. Genest site in France, the new Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic has been redesigned so that patients can apply it with just their
healthy hand. It is also possible to individually adjust and retrofit this shoulder-arm orthosis. Patients can also do their rehabilitation exercises without removing the orthosis. The range of sizes has been expanded to now cater for chest circumferences up to 150 cm. This feature and the lightweight, breathable design were given a very positive reception by industry professionals
”.

Proven functional principle and high wearing comfort

Just like the proven orthoses from the Classic range, the Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic continues to ensure reliable restriction of movements that would interfere with the healing process. Additional stabilising elements for the upper arm and hand are used to treat fractures.
There was a particular focus during development on ensuring high wearing comfort for the user. Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic is made from a breathable material. The materials are lightweight and thin, with an open hand guide, allowing the product to fit in seamlessly with the user’s daily routine. Wearing comfort is further enhanced by the soft, comfortable inner side. In Germany, the Cellacare Gilchrist Easy Classic will be available from May 2023 and included in the list of reimbursable medical aids, with additional approval for use in first aid.

The product will be available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Benelux countries
