Lomatuell® Pro Low-pain treatment with tulle

A new primary dressing - gel-forming contact net

With Lomatuell Pro, the medical devices supplier Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) now provides users in Germany with a new primary dressing – an innovative gel-forming contact net. Lomatuell® Pro minimizes the risk of adhesion, generating a moist wound environment whilst simultaneously moisturizing dry wound areas and the wound edge. This enables low-pain, atraumatic dressing changes, thereby contributing to therapy success.

Users are often confronted with the need to prevent adhesion of a dressing to a wound. Releasing the dressing from wound and wound edge during a dressing change is often not only very painful, but can impede the healing process.

Atraumatic and low-pain dressing changes1

The new dressing Lomatuell Pro provides significant advantages in this respect: The wound contact layer made from Vaseline and hydrocolloid particles minimizes the risk of adhesion2 and enables low-pain, atraumatic dressing changes. 97 % of respondents to a patient survey rated the removability of Lomatuell Pro after two to four days as good or excellent.1

Effective exudate management supports therapy success1

In addition, the contact net of the polyester tulle combines elements of dry and moist wound management: the hydrocolloid particles gel in contact with wound exudate and keep the wound moist.3 The contact net promotes the transfer of excess exudate to the secondary dressing, thereby reducing the risk of maceration. At the same time, the Vaseline moisturizes dry wound areas and the wound edge.

Lomatuell Pro obviates the need for a daily dressing change. Depending on the wound situation and the secondary dressing, it is usually sufficient to renew the dressing after two and four days, with a maximum of seven days. The dressing change involves little pain even after such intervals; wound rest and the moist wound climate combine to support the healing process.

Easy and safe to use1

The double-sided dressing is flexible and supple. The contact net facilitates safe contact with the wound bed. The primary dressing can be cut to size as necessary. This allows safe application and removal of the dressing. The high wearing comfort increases levels of patient acceptance and enhances their quality of life.1

A wide field of application for Lomatuell Pro

Lomatuell Pro is suitable for the care of superficial wounds in all exudation phases. The innovative wound dressing is especially suitable for use with chronic wounds such as lower leg ulcers or diabetic foot ulcers, acute wounds such as lacerations, incisions and abrasions, second-degree burns and post-operative wounds.

The gel-forming contact net is available in four different sizes. Depending on the amount of exudate, the secondary dressings Vliwasoft or Vliwasorb or Gazin gauze dressings can be used for the protection of the wound and the retention of Lomatuell Pro.

Lomatuell H, a well-established cotton wool tulle corresponding to traditional healing concepts can also be used. The dressing utilizes the dry approach to wound care and must be changed every one to two days.
