L&R reports the strongest sales and logistics figures in company history to date.

Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) increases volume of deliveries

With more than 5 million items delivered and more than 1,2 million deliveries in total in 2013, the L&R Group looks back at a very successful year. These figures, along with its comprehensive product portfolio and individual customer solutions, reinforce L&R’s position as one of the leading international suppliers in the medical devices sector.

“We are proud that we have surpassed the 5 million mark for items delivered for the first time in the L&R company history; precisely we processed 5,079,000 delivery items in 2013. Compared to the previous year, this means an increase of nearly 6 percent. In total, more than 1,2 million deliveries were internationally undertaken. These key figures about the delivery volumes do not only mean our best result to date in the field of logistics, but also strengthen our resolve to supply our customers with the L&R products they require punctually and reliably at all times”, says Thomas Menitz, Managing Director for Production, Technology and Logistics at L&R.

Figures to the logistics capacity at L&R

Such a delivery volume of course entails increased, complex processes which is shown by the following figures originating from five of the international L&R logistic centers that are located in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and France. The accumulated weight of the delivered items was over 41,000 tons and the volume nearly 281,000 cubic metres. This annual volume is the equivalent of around 300,000 pallets or 9,100 truckloads. However, this only represents outgoing goods. If incoming goods are also taken into account, L&R moves approximately 600,000 pallets annually.

Customer oriented and individual solutions

“We consider ourselves to be a solution provider and reliable partner for our customers and as such we offer them the security of knowing that they will get the right solution for their individual needs. This includes the fastest possible delivery times using the pull principle, i.e. demand-driven, customized production and delivery of our products. We are able to do this as efficiently as possible with our high-capacity international logistics centres and our logistics partners,” emphasizes Thomas Menitz.

An optimized warehousing and transport system, the latest warehousing and commissioning technologies, semi-automated loading processes and successful collaborations with international partners all help L&R fulfill its ambition of being the preferred partner and problem solver for its customers.

Comprehensive product portfolio of the full-range supplier

That ambition can also be seen in the comprehensive product portfolio of L&R who perceives itself as full-range supplier in the medical devices sector. L&R’s complete range of products comprises more than 15,000 medical devices and hygiene products – from classical dressing materials and bandages (e.g. Rosidal®) through supports and orthoses (e.g. Cellacare®, Velpeau®, epX®), wound dressings for all wound healing phases (e.g. Suprasorb®) and OR set systems (Kitpack®) to consumer articles (such as Bellawa® cotton wool products), service concepts (L&R Optiline®) and a range for negative pressure therapy (Suprasorb® CNP).
