Former RAUSCHER & Co. Managing Director and L&R shareholder Horymir Bouda passed away
After his education at the Higher Textile School in Reichenberg/Liberec and in Brno (Czech Republic), he joined the family business, the "Verbandstoff- und Wattefabriken RAUSCHER & Co.", which was managed by his father Josef Bouda, in 1950. RAUSCHER & Co., based in Vienna, had been developing, producing and distributing surgical dressings and nursing products since its foundation in 1899 and was the leading supplier of dressings in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was initially responsible for the financial area of RAUSCHER & Co. In 1957, under his direction, the production site in Schönau a.d. Triesting (Lower Austria) was founded and Horymir Bouda became managing director of various Rauscher companies. His technical developments in the field of cotton wool and dressing materials were used worldwide. After the death of his father in 1977, Horymir Bouda, together with his brothers-in-law Dr. Helmut Leuprecht and Christian Hogenauer-Wagenmann, took over the management of the Rauscher group of companies with six branches in Austria and Germany.
Growth and internationalisation

Investments were made in particular in the establishment and expansion of production units and sales activities in six Central European countries; the economic growth was also accompanied by a constantly increasing number of employees.
Successful product innovations

The Kitpack® OR Custom Procedure Tray, which RAUSCHER & Co. offered to customers in the hospital sector from 1987 onwards, comprises all the disposable medical products required for a surgery, suitable for the respective surgery or indication. It enables the medical staff to work safely, time-saving, cost-efficiently and economically. RAUSCHER & Co. thus took on a pioneering role among the renowned dressing material manufacturers in Europe.
From RAUSCHER & Co. to Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R)
Horymir Bouda initiated and shaped the biggest change in the company's history as part of the management when RAUSCHER & Co. merged with the medical division of the German company Lohmann KG to form the Lohmann & Rauscher International Group (L&R) in 1998. In that year, Horymir Bouda joined the advisory board of L&R International as deputy chairman and has since acted as managing director of the newly founded Rauscher Holding GmbH.
Involvement in professional associations & honorary titles
Horymir Bouda was a long-standing, partly leading member of numerous business and professional associations: Among other things, he held the office of chairman of the textile industry section in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, was deputy chairman in the same section in the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce and a member of the textile industry section in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. In the Austrian Chamber of Commerce he also held the expert position in the "Economic Curia" (former Advisory Council for Foreign Trade Statistics). In addition, Horymir Bouda was a member of the board of the Textile Industry Association and the Committee for Economic Policy Affairs of the Federation of Austrian Industry. A good education of future skilled workers was also of essential importance to him - that is why he also held the office of President of the Board of Trustees of the Federal College and Research Institute for the Textile Industry (Spengergasse Vienna) and was for many years Chairman of the Association for the Promotion of this school. At the age of 40 (1970), he was awarded the Silver Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria by the Austrian Federal President - the youngest person to receive this honour at that time. In 1996, he was awarded the professional title of Kommerzialrat (Commercial Counsellor) for his many years of professional service to the Republic of Austria.
