Symbol glossary

    Our labelling is designed to meet all applicable international standards and regulations. We adopted the use of symbols to communicate requirements, product characteristics and provide guidance on handling and storage to the user. A compiled listing of symbols that may appear on the product labelling and the meaning of the symbol is provided here:

    1. Medical Device Symbols

    Manufacturer

    Picture: Manufacturer

    Indicates the medical device manufacturer.

    Authorised Representative in the European Community

    Picture: Authorised Representative in the European Community

    Indicates the authorized representative in the European Community/European Union.

    Date of manufacture

    Picture: Date of manufacture

    Indicates the date when the medical device was manufactured.

    Use-by date

    Picture: Use-by date

    Indicates the date after which the medical device is not to be used.

    Batch code

    Picture: Batch code

    Indicates the manufacturer’s batch code so that the batch or lot can be identified.

    Catalogue number

    Indicates the manufacturer’s catalogue number so that the medical device can be identified.

    Serial number

    Importer

    Sterile

    Lower limit of temperature

    Indicates that cau­tion is necessary when operating the device or control close to where the symbol is placed, or that the current situation needs operator aware­ness or operator action in order to avoid undesirable consequences.

    Contains human blood or plasma derivatives

    Contains a medicinal substance
