Suprasorb® P silicone is gentle on the surrounding skin

New PU foam dressing

Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) has expanded its portfolio by the addition of a new dressing: Suprasorb P silicone has been specially developed for the gentle treatment of wounds with low to moderate levels of exudate. The foam dressing is easy to apply, can be removed virtually painlessly and promotes a moist wound healing environment.

Foam dressings are the ideal partner for easy wound care. The new Suprasorb P silicone means that patients whose wounds are surrounded by sensitive skin can also benefit from L&R foam dressings. The new dressing boasts excellent skin adhesion,1 which ensures that Suprasorb P silicone is securely retained the whole time it is worn – even for parts of the body that are in need of extra care.1 This also makes application considerably easier. Self-adhesive, Suprasorb P silicone can be easily applied by one person.1

The silicone adhesive layer is particularly gentle on the wound bed and the surrounding skin, which allows atraumatic removal of the dressing even in cases of sensitive skin.1,2,3 When surveyed, 91.6% of patients said that they did not experience any additional pain when the dressing was removed.1

Reliable exudate management

With its open-pored foam structure and generously-sized perforations in the silicone adhesive layer, Suprasorb P silicone rapidly absorbs the exudate and the factors it contains that impair wound healing such as proteases.4,5,6 The exudate can distribute itself evenly throughout the dressing and ensures a moist wound healing environment. This means that the dressing needs changing less often and the wound can heal unimpaired.6

Customized fit, simple application

The soft, flexible texture allows the new wound dressing to be easily moulded, particularly onto hard-to-bandage parts of the body. Suprasorb P silicone can be cut to size and thus customized to fit wounds of any shape and size. The new wound dressing for sensitive surrounding skin is available both with and without an adhesive edge.

Suprasorb P silicone can be used for chronic and acute wounds with low to moderate levels of exudate with sensitive surrounding skin – including venous leg ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers. Suprasorb P silicone is indicated for superficial and deep wounds. Deep wounds should initially be treated with a suitable wound filler such as Suprasorb Liquacel to avoid skin damage and tears.

Comprehensive therapy solution for wound management from L&R

L&R provides moist wound care dressings for phase-oriented wound management. For example, Suprasorb X + PHMB, a moisture-regulating, antimicrobial wound dressing, is well suited to lightly to moderately exuding wounds that are at risk of infection or infected. PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide) has broad antimicrobial potential and acts reliably against infections with MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococci). Suprasorb C, an absorbable collagen sponge, accelerates healing in problem wounds with all levels of exudate. The all-rounder in wound care, Suprasorb P, is suitable for moderately exuding wounds.
